1933:

Matthias Sindelar

Sindelar without a doubt! Matthias Sindelar had his best season of his career. He won the Wiener Cup with FK Austria Wien & the Mitropa Cup 1933 being the top scorer and the best player of the competition. Sindelar also had a great international year with Austria.

With amazing performances against the biggest teams in Nationalliga, Sindelar was one of the best players of the championship. On the other hand, Sindelar led FK Austria Wien to the team's first domestic cup & the first Mitropa Cup with two amazing performances against the Serie A champions, FC Juventus and AS Ambrosiana-Inter of one of the best players of the 30s, Giuseppe Meazza. 1937

Sárosi's third award. The hungarian was undoubtedly the best player in the world, Gyurka had a great individual & decisive season saving Ferencvárosi TC many times in Mitropa Cup 1937 including the finals.

To complete the podium, Arsenio Erico & Silvio Piola. El Paraguayo de Oro did not win the Copa Campeonato 1937, but was the top scorer with an outstanding mark of 48 goals in only 34 matches leading Independiente to a runner-up. Piola also had a great season with SS Lazio, the italian led them to a runner-up while being Serie A top scorer. Lazio was not even one of the best teams in Italy and Piola also led them to the finals of Mitropa Cup 1937 scoring amazings 11 goals in only 6 matches and Piola being decisive against Hungária FC and even scoring a hat-trick against Sárosi's Ferencvárosi TC.

György Sárosi, in general, had a great season, he was one of the best players of Nemzeti Bajnokság I and led to Budapest team to their second Mitropa Cup title, but to reach that, he had to beat strong teams like SK Slavia Praha, Hofmann's First Vienna, Sindelar's FK Austria Wien, including an amazing comeback against "Die Violetten" and two amazing results including two hat-tricks against SS Lazio of Silvio Piola. Gyurka Sárosi also had a great international year. With a total amount of 10 goals and with 7 of the total being scored against Czechoslovakia of František Plánička, he was the player with the best individual performances by a National Team in 1937.

1938:

Leônidas da Silva

Leônidas was the first brazilian to achieve the award, he had his best season for sure with Flamengo being top scorer of Campeonato Carioca, the strongest championship in Brazil, but that's not all, he had amazing performances in FIFA World Cup 1938 being the championship top scorer and the best player of the tournament.

1938 was a difficult year to choose who was the best player. Leônidas had a great indiviual year, Josef Bican was the Státní Liga 1937-1938 top scorer with 22 goals and also Mitropa Cup 1938 winner and top scorer with 10 goals, Dr. György Sárosi was Nemzeti Bajnokság I 1937-1938 winner and best player of the champions, Gyurka also had a great FIFA World Cup 1938 and had good performances in Mitropa Cup 1938, Arsenio Erico led Independiente to their third Copa Campeonato title while Erico being the league top scorer & world league top scorer with 43 goals, Piola also was winner of the FIFA World Cup 1938 while being the top scorer of Italy.

In terms of individual performances, Leônidas was the best. He did not win anything in 1938, but had great performances in Campeonato Carioca 1938 being runner-up of the championship and the best goalscorer. While playing for Brazil in 1938, Leônidas had his highlights in World Cup scoring 8 goals in only matches. Leônidas had also great performances against Poland of Wilimowski scoring a hat-trick saving Brazil and leading them to the quarter-finals, also helped Brazil to eliminate Czechoslovakia and with his goals Brazil won the third place of the World Cup. Worldwide media said they were impressed with his amazing technique and the way he was leading Brazil to the next rounds of the FIFA World Cup 1938. 1939

Zsengellér had a brilliant season, he won everything that he could being the top scorer and the best player. Gyula Zsengellér in the last seasons could not give hapiness to Újpesr's supporters with titles, but in 1938-1939 he changed everything.

Scoring an oustanding amount of 65 goals in 32 matches, Zsengellér was the Nemzeti Bajnokság I best goalscorer, Mitropa Cup best goalscorer, World League best goalscorer & European Season 1938-1939 best goalscorer. He also was part of Nemzeti Bajnokság I Team of the Season & its best player. Zsengellér also was brilliant in Mitropa Cup 1939 being its best player too. 1954
