John Tait Robertson was a Scottish footballer and a coach. He was the trainer that introduced a new football style to Hungary. Before Jimmy Hogan, Jackie Robertson coached and mastered the MTK and their students – Kálmán Konrád, for instance, who was described by Robertson as his best student. Mentioned more than one time by Csámi Konrád as his master, Robertson is known for being the man who brought the Scottish style to Hungary. While coaching in Hungary, Robertson only lasted two seasons for MTK, but his vision of how football should be played stayed. The Scottish style turned into the MTK-iskola.
We at the old MTK learned from our unforgettable master, Jackie Robertson, how to play football in a completely different way. Today, the whole continent is beginning to learn the principles of the old Hungarian-Scottish school.
Kálmán Konrád
