On 26/09/1933, Frigyes Becske got an interview with Dr. Emanuel Schwars, the president of FK Austria. Precisely, Becske asked him only questions related to Hungarian football. Nevertherless, Dr. Schwarz — Who was pointed as one of the best specialists in the world — did not had any problems regarding Becske's questions.
— What do you think about Hungarian football? — was Becske's first question.
Dr. Schwarz: The quality of Hungarian football is stagnating. Great individual talents, but few excellent teams. In recent years, criticism has been voiced that teams are overdoing the push style, and now they are beginning to promote the other extreme, the so-called W-formation. I think that a balanced style of each would be perfect. We owe our success to the adoption and modernization of the old Hungarian scientific football method. The great MTK style is played by every team - even youth and children's teams! - but simpler, faster and more dynamic. The Vienna player stops the ball only when needed. We strive to improve the pass. We want to improve our inverted long balls while practically applying the old Hungarian-Scottish concept of play. The Hungarian teams have a lack of interplay and stencil tactics, which is why we have been above them in recent years.
Dr. Schwarz: The importance of Sárosi is invaluable but not because his intelligent and wise control adds a class to the Ferencváros attacks, but first and foremost in terms of recruiting new talents. Youth needs a role model. With us, every move by Konrád II., Sindelar and Gschweidl has been watched by football young fans. Sárosi is such a model football player. His striking play could fertilize the Hungarian offensive tactics that were once world famous and exemplary. One of the most striking shortcomings of Hungarian football is the off-field.
— Can the Hungarians beat the Italians?
Dr. Schwarz: By their ability — yes. The question is whether the Hungarian team will have enough confidence. Italians are greatly overrated by Hungarian criticism and this circumstance makes players biased against Italians. However, Austria defeated the invincible FC Juventus Torino, and the Italian National Team deservedly won in Vienna and Prague. Within a year, five Italian teams were touring Vienna. (A. S. Roma. Bologna FC, FC Juventus Torino, AS Ambrosiana-Inter and their National Team) All five worn out! And these five Italian teams could only score 2 goals in 10X45 minutes! I think Hungarians will be the favorites of the Hungarian-Italian match in Budapest. However, they will have to work hard for victory, because the Italians are masters of the defensive tactics.
