In 1924, Hugo Meisl was asked to select the top 22 European players excluding players from the British Isles. The Austrian General-Secretary chose the names as follows:


GOALKEEPERS: Zamora and Plattkó.
FULL-BACKS: A. Hojer, Blum and Fogl II.
HALF-BACKS: Kolenatý, Orth, Nitsch, Káďa, Samitier and Hagen.
FORWARDS: Piera, Dvořáček, Stapl, Vaník, Koželuh, Alcántara, Franz, Van Dearmen and Dahl.
