A sensational match between two of the best teams from Prague, DFC Praha and A.C. Sparta, was scheduled to play on 28/09/1921, Wednesday. The Germans, strengthened by a number of new players, achieved a significant success last match, defeating the excellent team of Viktoria Žižkov. Supporters of the German club were firmly convinced that their team would get their revenge against A.C. Sparta, when the red team from Prague managed to win 2:1 with extreme tension.
Antonín Janda, who did not play the last match against Rudolfshügel, was back to, once again, be in the Sparta team. It was also expected that Meduna, the new forward, whose play on Sparta's tour of Switzerland and in Nuremberg was described as excellent by all experts, would be introduced to the forward line.
Referee Matura would command the meeting.
Friendly match: 28/09/1921, Wednesday, 16:00. A.C. Sparta — DFC Prag 5:0 (1:0) Place: Stadion Sparta, Letná. Referee: Matura (Prague, Czechoslovakia) Linesmen: ? Estimated attendance: 15.000. A.C. Sparta: Peyr — Hojer, Pospíšil — Kolenatý, Káďa, Perner — Sedláček, Janda, Pilát, Šroubek, Mazal. Coach: John Dick. DFC Prag: Müller — Kuchynka, Ottoway — Berger, Tóth, Krompholz — Kmpton, Feller, Jeszmás, Less, Fischer. Coach: Goals: Janda(29min, 79min), Šroubek(60min, 5min), Mazal(73min).
This was, once again, a very calm match for the red team from Praha. Even though the match started well for the Germans in the first few minutes, eventually Stara Mašina took control of the meeting. Janda scored the first goal for the home team. In the second half of the match, due to the weakening of DFC Praha's defensive system — half-back and full-back lines —, A.C. Sparta's vanguard took advantage of the moment, therefore added four more goals to the scoreboard, through, again, Janda, Šroubek and the outside left Mazal.
MATCH REPORT: The result of the big meeting was no surprise to us. We, who see Sparta playing football every week, training every day, know that Sparta is a completely different class today and there is no team on the continent that can beat them. DFC didn't play badly, in fact it's safe to say they had a very good day, but even with their current thoroughly strengthened line-up they are no match for the phenomenal Sparta. All the men in the winning team are outstanding, but especially the halves, which is definitely the best on the continent. Káďa is the epitome of the ideal player. Perner and Kolenatý are worthy partners. The latter celebrated his 200th game for Sparta on Sunday. In the forward line, Janda is the least technical player, but his shooting is incredibly formidable. The most dangerous forward is Pilat. Mazal is a paragon of wingers. Hojer is phenomenal as full-back. Elegant, calm and infinitely confident. Peyr in goal is flawless.
