AN UNSTOPPABLE SLAVIA
SLAVIA—KLADNO, 14:1 (7:1)

S.K. Slavia amazingly thrashes the visiting team and takes the lead in Národní Liga — Kopecký was the match's top scorer — S.K. Kladno sank even further.

In the ninth round of Národní Liga 1939/40, S.K. Kladno would have a meeting against S.K. Slavia, of Josef Bican, at Stadion Letná. At that time, the red and white team from Prague was in second place, just behind A.C. Sparta. S.K. Kladno was last placed in the league, with six defeats and just two wins. The visiting team, moreover, had the worst defense in the championship.
As much as S.K.'s latest performances Slavia in Národní Liga were not befitting their true power, The Kladno team was in debacle for a long time. In the last round, Kladno resisted A.C. Sparta until the last minutes. Both teams would go with a lot of power. Once again, S.K. Slavia would not have Rudolf Vytlačil available or veteran František Svoboda. Vytlačil would be replaced by Deršák II., who already showed promise in Sunday's match against S.K. Viktoria Žižkov, while Čestmír Vycpálek would play as right inside forward.
Engineer Michal Palij would command the match on 11/19/1939, on Sunday, at 2:30 pm.

Slavia: Deršák I. — Bouška, Daučík — Průcha, Sobotka, Jezbera — Vacek, Vycpálek, Bican, Kopecký, Deršák II. Coach: Emil Seifert. S.K. Kladno: Biskup — Šmejkal, Kusala — Kozohorský, Pergler, Souček — Liška, Kalčík, Seidl, Junek, Nový. Coach: Otakar Mazal. Goals: Kopecký(6, 16min; 25min; 39min; 59min; 65min; 85min), Bican(4, 2min; 29min; 58min; 80min), Vycpálek(2, 12min; 20min), Vacek(63min) and Deršák II.(55min) — Nový(34min).
The persistent rain ended up leaving the ground quite precarious, but the technically advanced players from S.K. Slavia stood out against the weak performance of the Kladno team. In almost no time S.K. Kladno was a serious opponent for the Prague team. The only goal scored by the visiting team, moreover, was mentioned as a tactical mistake by Deršák I. which Václav Nový took advantage.
From the first minutes of the match, S.K. Slavia constantly carried out, through its sublime and precise vanguard, dangerous actions against the opponent's defensive system. It is true that S.K. Kladno was not so lucky, as they found a Slavia on a divine day, with gusto and extremely high finishing precision. In each half, the home team scored an impressive total of seven goals. There was a question as to whether Vlasta Kopecký scored six or seven goals; Josef Bican scored four; Vycpálek scored two; Vacek scored one. Some credited the first goal of the second half of the match to left winger Deršák II.; not for Kopecký.
MATCH REPORT: They accomplished this task perfectly thanks to the merits of all players, thanks to a machine combination, appetite for the game and excellent technique. They outplayed the guests in all directions and played with them like a cat and a mouse. It's hard to praise anyone from the winning team in particular.
