The match started with Switzerland having more space than the Czech team. The great Czech goalkeeper, František Plánička, had to make great saves against the fast attacks which Switzerland had. However, after a few minutes, the Swiss team scored the first goal of the match.
After the 20th minute, Czechoslovakia found their game.
The left side of Czech forward line then started to seek the equalizer. After a nice combination between Oldřich Nejedlý and Antonín Puč, Czechoslovakia got a corner. The ball was played to Krčil in the half-back line, he passed to the attack which had Nejedlý & Sobotka playing the ball. Sobotka then assisted Svoboda. After the goal, Czechoslovakia were the top team again, but no other goal was scored during the first half.
The second half was completely different from the first. Czechoslovakia noticeably improved, with more certainty, precision and dominance in their actions, especially offensive actions. A few minutes into the second half, Sobotka scored the second goal of his side. CZECHOSLOVAKIA.
The defensive system reached its best moments in the second half of the match. In the first half, especially in the opening minutes, there was too much nervousness. As the minutes passed, the full-backs improved. Ladislav Ženíšek did a great job, during which Josef Čtyřoký complamented him brilliantly. Once again, Plánička was highly regarded as the best player in the match.
MATCH REPORT (CZECHOSLOVAKIA): And now we come back to the old song, the best player on the field and the continent's most celebrated goalkeeper — Plánička. Just like in Trieste, the name "Plánička" was pronounced with great admiration throughout the stadium.
The half-back line was better than in the first match, delivering great passes and making precise tackles. In this tough match, Štefan Čambal played behind, but could connect offensively very well. Rudolf Krčil initially had difficulties with von Känel, but in the defensive game with Josef Koštálek, he fully proved himself. The right half-back improved compared to the game in Trieste.
The forward line operated much more efficiently than in the first match, especially due to the inclusion of František Svoboda, who played fearlessly, with a lot of strength and incisive actions, in addition to combining very well with the rest of the line. In fact, Svoboda was a much better option than Josef Silný, who had played his last game for Czechoslovakia against Romania. They performed better than what was presented in Triesta, especially in the second half. There were more infiltrations from the vanguard, the team improved tremendously in shooting, as the shots were sent with greater quantity and precision. The attack, moreover, demonstrated superior confidence in its combinations.
Once again, the left side of the forward line was the best on the team. After all, incisiveness, quality and efficiency were focused on the Nejedlý-Puč wing. Both caused constant damage to the Swiss defensive system. Even when the ball was in Svoboda's control, the tendency was for the right inside forward, of S.K. Slavia, combined with the left side. With the addition of Bonello, František Junek performed better compared to the first match, but demonstrated poor quality in finishing.
MATCH REPORT (CZECHOSLOVAKIA): Sobotka had a hard time playing in the first half, but then he was quite satisfactory and mainly benefited our attack with a beautiful goal.
Sobotka encountered problems against the opposing defensive system. He was not an offensive standout, even though he was the scorer of one of his team's goals.
