HUNGARY.
The Central team achieved an excellent result, but their way of playing raised some doubts regarding other issues, such as the position of some players and the lack of effectiveness in front of the opponent's goal. Hungary dominated most of the action in the 90 minutes, but reached the peak of their performance in the first minutes of the second half, when the team adjusted itself.
Goalkeeper Biri, who was the third goalkeeper in mind for the Olympic Games, didn't have much to do. After all, the full-backs duo, made up of Károly Fogl and Gyula Mándi, was enough to neutralize the opponents' few advances. Both acted calmly, confidently and classically.
The half-back line started the match in a timid way, composing itself as time went by. Guttmann and Obitz were playing weakly, Orth alone stood like a rock and played great throughout, equalizing as much as possible the temporary weakness of his comrades. Subsequently, both of those mentioned above improved, more precisely Obitz, who dedicated himself more to neutralizing the opponent's advances. Orth focused more on building his team's offensive actions. Orth's masterful, artistic productions caught the eye of the onlooker.
MATCH REPORT (HUNGARY): Orth's brilliant play was a sensation for the half line. He was the best player on field. MATCH REPORT (POLAND): In half-line the weakest was Guttmann, Obitz, having the best side of our attack, was excellent. Orth also showed high class.
The forward line performed timidly in the first half, especially the right side, made up of Braun-Eisenhoffer. There was, moreover, a certain lack of understanding between the internal trio, largely due to the displacement of some players and the inability of others. József Eisenhoffer, the right inside forward, for instance, was completely out of place, as he used to play much better as left inside forward. Consequently, József Braun, although performed well, was not played as much as he could have been by the insider.
MATCH REPORT (HUNGARY): Braun lacked an understanding partner. He did many nice things, but those delightful all-round attacks, which he used to do with Molnár, were lacking today.
MATCH REPORT (HUNGARY): Opata was not the confident centre-forward who recognized situations well, as a few times before, it is true that he and his partners did not yet understand each other in everything.
Generally consistent and well-coordinated, the most dangerous wing was Jeny-Hirzer.
