THE NORTH PAYS FOR THE BROKEN POTS
— Louis Delblat | 23/03//1925 —
Without a doubt, the Stade Jean-Dubrulle, in Roubaix, has never seen such a crowd. To admire the World round ball champions, the famous Uruguayans, with such a pleasant game, some 12,000 northern sportsmen crowded into the pretty stadium of the Racing Club in Roubaix.
The Nacional de Montevideo players had not yet digested the 70 minutes of play during which they were unable to score a goal for the French team. So when they entered the field they had warlike intentions. And they made short work of the representative team from the North, which had to concede 7 goals without being able to save the honor.
The teams entered the field at 3 p.m. An impeccable presentation of the 22 players arouses the enthusiasm of the public. The Uruguayans went to lay a magnificent wreath of flowers at the foot of the monument erected in memory of the members of the R.C. of Roubaix who died on the field of honor.

And at 15h. 15 Mr. Langres whistled for the kick-off. Immediately Uruguay was in action. A breakthrough by Petrone ended with the tumble of this play. A penalty, perhaps severe, resulted. Petrone gave Encontre no chance.
The Nacional goal-scorer scored twice more; the first time, following a miss from Bayen, the second, following a magnificent opening from Urdinarán.
Before half-time, Suffiotti scored the fourth goal.
In the second half the game was splendid. Uruguay showed all their finesse. Their short, rapid and repeated passes aroused the enthusiasm of the public.
On an Urdinarán center, Encontre touched the ball, but could not prevent Castro from heading the ball into the net. Shortly afterwards, a pass from Romano to Petrone allowed the latter to add a goal to the score. The Nacional centre-forward scored again, making it five goals in the game for him.
The North, in no way demoralized, reacted with all its strength. They showed themselves to be dangerous at different times, but Mazali's mastery did not allow them to salvage honor.

Nothing new can be said about the Uruguayans' game. They showed the Northerners their know-how which is great. Their best men were Mazali, Fiorentino, Castro, Petrone, Suffiotti and master Zibechi. Andrade looked tired.
The Northerners are to be congratulated for their courage. Their best man was Skeldon. After him, there are: Lerouge, Beulque, Dubly, Aerts, Isbecque.
Mr. Langres' refereeing was excellent.
The revenue exceeded 65,000 francs.

After the match, the Northern League received its guests at Café Bellevue. Our director Victor Breyer, kindly invited by the Northern League, spoke on behalf of the press.
