THE MATCHES IN SWITZERLAND

When we arrived in Zurich, the weather was nice, sunny, cold and no snow at all. But 30 cm of snow fell at night and our joy of good terrain was over. We played against Grasshoppers: Hochmann — Hojer, Steiner — Kolenatý, Káďa, Červený — Novák, Šíma, Dvořáček, Hajný, Horejs. In the second half Hrubý came on for Horejs and Poláček for the injured Šíma. Except for the left wing, all our forwards played very well. Goals were scored by: Hajný 3, Novák, Šíma, Poláček, Dvořáček. Half-backs and defence played well. The terrain was difficult, so we were physically exhausted.  Grasshoppers is certainly the champion Swiss this year; they play fast, ground football. They gave us a hard time in the first half, the score was 2-1 by the break, and it was only our combination that tightened them up. The attendance was poor as it snowed all day. The referee, the well-known Hirle, favored the Swiss, let them play sharply in defence, he didn't whistle anything. The local Czech colony was very happy about our success. There was also Znamenacek, who played for Nuselský in Prague; he is after an operation.
