At the hotel we said goodbye to the Italian players to return in the afternoon. We were going to see Scarone precisely.
Finally we saw the Uruguayan. He was accompanied by a compatriot living in Barcelona who had gone to receive him.
Héctor has aged somewhat; he has the same smile as always and the same affability.
— How has it been for you to play in Italy now?
Scarone: Mine is a strange case. I will only be in Italy for a year. I came to Europe with special permission. I am in the City Council of Montevideo and I came with a year's vacation that has been granted to me. I was looking forward to seeing Barcelona in the time since I was here. The passport thing has prevented me from taking advantage of today. I already had the opportunity to come during the Exhibition, but I didn't come. I regret it. I had to come to Europe with Rampla Juniors. I was already on board, but I turned back to the ground.
— Why did you leave Barcelona, Héctor?
The friend who is with him intervened at that moment. Until then he had not said a word.
— He went because he was afraid of marriage. He was going to get married here.
Scarone: No. It wasn't for this. I received letters from Uruguay asking me to return to play in Amsterdam with the Uruguay team in the Olympics. Professionalism was established here then and I had to sign as a professional. In order not to sign, I left and was thus able to play with the Uruguayan eleven as an amateur in the Olympics.
— Do you like playing in Italy?
Scarone: A lot. There is a big fan base there. Tickets are made for many thousands of lire.
— Did you think you would one day return to Barcelona when you left?
Scarone: I was thinking of returning one day because I liked Barcelona a lot. I didn't think I would do it with a football team.
— Tomorrow you will see Barcelona ahead. Some guys from back then still play.
Scarone: Yeah. Arnau, Piera, Sagi and Samitier.
— Samitier is in London.
Scarone: There are very few left from then.
The conversation ended when Scarone was called to the table.
