The Uruguayans did not play many matches for their clubs teams in their respective season. The Olympians, for instance, were ausent in several meetings for the local championship — Campeonato Uruguayo. In fact, the matches that the Uruguayans played were characterized by the high level of competition and importance, especially the tour of Spain, the VIII. Olympiad and the Copa América. Of those who made an exceptional journey throughout the calendar, I highlight four footballers, from full-back to centre-forward: Nasazzi, Andrade, Scarone and Petrone. At the beginning of 1924 they went to Europe to play some matches on Spanish soil. There, they showed their superior class to local football, dominating their opponents completely. Henceforth, Uruguay went on to compete in the VIII. Olympiad, in Paris, where they were, once again, superior to their rivals, showing a football characterized by a high culture of the game.
The captain of Uruguay's triumphs, José Nasazzi, maintained his high level of versatility throughout the season, playing as a full-back for the National Team and centre-forward for Bella Vista. His performances, even when the Uruguayan side was largely dominant, were solid. Nasazzi was one of the pillars of his team, due to the security brought to the defensive system by his sovereignty as a full-back.
José Leandro Andrade, the half-back for Bella Vista and Uruguay, performed exceptionally well while in form, especially at the Olympic Games, where he was widely regarded as the tournament's best player. It is true that Andrade, throughout the respective season, played few matches compared to the other players. However, when he did play, he reached the peak of his form, constantly being acclaimed as the best Uruguayan player, or at least one of the best. In fact, the level that he reached, however brief, was outstanding. Pedro Petrone.
The magician of the forward line, Héctor Scarone, was in exceptional form, as well as maintaining a high level of consistency. Due to the high dominance of Uruguay, the actions were constantly focused on attack; with Scarone being the main highlight of the forward line due to his brilliant play. His virtuosity as a footballer was notorious, enchanting the canchas of Europe with his genius. Scarone was highly mentioned among the best footballers of the VIII Olympiad, thus being almost unanimously propagated as the best forward.
Uruguay's goal conversion was largely focused on Pedro Petrone. The young Uruguayan amazed the world with his technique, speed and extremely high ferocity in scoring goals. Petrone was Uruguay's top scorer in the conquests, including being the top scorer in the tour held in Spain. Petrone eventually ended up being the top scorer in the Uruguayan championship of 1924 — which ended in 1925. CONCLUSION.
It is difficult to decide who stood out the most during their respective seasons, due to a series of factors that were exacerbated by the events that took place in 1924. There was almost no acceptable number of matches played by Uruguayan players. After all, after the 1924 Olympic Games, the champions only returned to their respective championships at the end of the year — others even less than that. Andrade, for instance, reached a very high level during the VIII Olympiad, and was thus widely and legitimately considered the best player of the tournament, but he lost his form drastically after the competition, nor did he play a single match in the Copa América at the end of that year. Consequently, he played few matches in the 1924 season.
Other players, moreover, played more than fifty matches throughout their respective seasons, but did not stand out as some who played far fewer matches, or even less than half of the matches.
In fact, this season is extremely competitive. There are several names that could be chosen. In my opinion, adding up the very high performance, the consistency and what was achieved in essential competitions, the Uruguayan Héctor Scarone was the world's standout.
