THE HANDOVER CEREMONY OF THE CENTRAL EUROPEAN CUP WILL TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY
— István Pluhár | 10/11/1928 —

Last year, when Sparta won the Central European Cup, the Cup Committee presented the Czech team with a handsome travelling prize in a ceremonial session on the evening of the victory. This time, there were obstacles to the ceremonial handover, as the Austrian Federation's leadership team traveled to Rome for the Austrian-Italian national team match there.
Meisl specifically asked the Hungarians to postpone the handover ceremony until the next committee meeting for this reason. Dr. Fodor, however, insisted on this formality, because such an act would increase the weight of the expected Hungarian victory and would especially highlight the success of Ferencváros and, through it, Hungarian football in the world press.
Representing Hungarian football, Árpád Kenyeres, the general secretary of the Hungarian Football League (MLSz) and Dr. Henrik Fodor, the general secretary of the PLASz, traveled to the Central European Cup Committee meeting on Sunday and immediately after their arrival, Dr. Fodor inquired about the details of the meeting by phone from the Austrian Federation. However, he did not receive a response, because there was no one in the Austrian Federation that evening. So, the matter will be resolved at a meeting at the Ring Café that night.
The Rapid management fully shares the opinion of the Hungarian delegates and we expect the same from Loos, the chairman of the committee, who will arrive from Prague at night, bringing the Cup with him.
We certainly expect that after Sunday's match, the Central European Cup will be handed over to the winning team in a suitable ceremony.
