HLAVAY'S BEST HUNGARIAN XI
György Hlavay, a great centre-half of the pre-war era, who was only able to fulfil part of the bloody hopes placed in him because of the war — but that was enough to get his name mentioned with the greatest Hungarians — became a coach. Before, as a player, then as a teach, he was a representative of academic, cultured football. As much as he was one of the embodiments of the great old MTK style, he was still one of the foremost experts on football, and his insights are of interest to all.
On 22/01/1929, Tuesday, following a great wave of debates about the best Hungarian XI of all time and the best Hungarian of all time, Hlavay carried out a short series of two articles explaining his point of view on the topics already mentioned:
György Hlavay's best Hungarian eleven of all-time I.
György Hlavay's best Hungarian eleven of all-time II.
In his two written articles, Hlavay separated the more defense-oriented positions in the first article; with the offensive line and its phases in Hungarian football in the second article.
