Shortly before the end of August, Real Sociedad de San Sebastián, which was one of the main powers in Spain, champions of Gipuzko, set out on its tour of Central Europe, more precisely to play a total of four matches against some of the main teams in the Czechoslovakia and Austria. In addition to its usual squad, the Dontiarra team requested the addition of goalkeeper Javier Barroso, of Athletic Club de Madrid, to reinforce its squad.
There was a doubt, however, regarding the participation of footballers Eizaguirre, Urbina and Arbide, as they had professional commitments, thus potentially causing an eventual absence from the tour.
The total of four matches were divided into two meetings for each territory. The first two, on Czech soil: S.K. Slavia, on Saturday, and DFC Prag, on Sunday. Later, the San Sebastián team would travel to Vienna to play the last two matches: First Vienna, on Sunday, and Wiener Amateur S.V, on Monday. The meetings were seen as having notable importance for leveling the quality Donostiarra side on foreign soil. After all, S.K. Slavia, alongside DFC Prag, were considered true continental powers. The Austrians, moreover, were respectively the runners-up and champions of Wiener Liga I.

Since the matches were divided equally in each foreign territory, it is possible, above all, to characterize the tour as a true catastrophe on Czech soil and a beautiful performance in Vienna.
Real Sociedad de San Sebastián was the first Spanish team to play in Czechoslovakia. In Prague, against Červenobílí, the champions of Gipuzko showed their quality, but it was not enough to beat the locals. The S.K. Slavia, through their high class of play, with four goals scored by Rudolf Sloup-Štapl, won the match 4:2. Nevertheless, a beautiful image of the Spanish team was created on Czech soil, through their clean, fair, and sympathetic play. Due to the departures of A.C. Sparta and S.K. Slavia on Spanish soil, the Czech public had created a terrible image regarding the Spanish referees, public and players — an image befitting a dirty game.
On Sunday the Spanish side faced DFC Prag, then in oustanding form. Although the Germans were considered superior, the match, unexpectedly, was a true massacre. Consequently, ending in a final score of 11:1 for the locals. The meeting was characterized by a series of questions that could explain Real Sociedad's defeat. The aspect, however, that most caught the guests' attention was the level of football played by their oppoenents, which, at that time, was constantly mentioned as the best team in Europe.
LIPPO HERTZKA: I can assure that it is a team to defeat all the opponents that oppose it, whether it is a national team or a team among the best teams in the first league in England. And in the San Sebastián team there are several of those who fought against the Uruguayans and all of them, with rare unanimity, judge DFC Prag better, whose line of attack stands out greatly, superior to all considerations.
After the two commitments held on Czech soil, the Spanish team moved to Austria to play the last two matches of the tour. Consequently, becoming the first Spanish club to play on Austrian territory. On 07/09/1924, Sunday, the first meeting, played at Hohe Warte, was marked by a result that, according to critics, was not consistent with the performance of the visiting team. Real Sociedad, moreover, lost goalkeeper Eizaguirre in the first half. He ended up being replaced by full-back Luis Beguiristain.
At that point in the tour, Real Sociedad had lost every match played.
The following day, the San Sebastián team faced the 1923/24 Austrian champions, Wiener Amateur S.V. Still without Eizaguirre, First Vienna offered the goalkeeper Pahst to be Real Sociedad's custodian.
The Spaniards played exceptionally well in the first half, scoring 0:3. However, in the second half, the team dropped in performance, giving up two goals to Die Violetten — both scored by Alfréd Schaffer.
LIPPO HERTZKA: The crowd, continuously cheering on our team and rewarding the goals with warm ovations.
After the tour of Czechoslovakia and Austria, the team returned to Spain for two matches — September 13th and 14th — against F.C. Barcelona, which had been rescheduled.
